I am currently a member of a gym where the majority of the members are senior citizens. The facility is filled with several amenities, making it feel like a mini country club. I suppose that these amenities are what helped to attract many of the members. I know it influenced my decision. If I had to guess, many of the members are probably retired. It is such an inspiration to see so many senior members of our community take pride in their physical health. They come in all ages, genders and physical abilities. All determined to make physical fitness a priority in their lives. Although inspirational, it is also a very humbling experience at the same time. There is a class or two geared towards senior citizens, most classes are open to all ages. These stellar seniors are taking classes like Les Mills BodyPump, Yogilates and Zumba. Not only can they keep up with the younger members, they often surpass them in effort. A have seen a few whip pass me on the indoor track and master the stair climbing machine that I have yet to tackle. Seeing them in action, erases every excuse that I can come up with. It lets me know that if they can do, I can too. I find courage and strength in their commitment to healthy living. The amazing part is I get to see this in action, every time I go to the gym and it is truly a blessing.
